How do you change a world

How do you change a World…

When you Mother told you always to say “Yes” to a Man!

When your brother had preference over everything
When being pretty was the ultimate goal

When you avoided being felt up in the pool because you swam faster
When the local pedophile was employed by the primary school
When your own family dismisses the sexual abuse you suffered

When you are made responsible for everything;you are female
When you are taught it is not safe to go anywhere alone;you are female
When you are touched up on public transport;you are female
When you(pregnant)are propositioned near a photocopier;you are female

When if you are drunk; you are asking for it!
When your skirt is short; you are asking for it!
When your blouse is low cut; you are asking for it!
When it is late at might; you are asking for it!
When your boots are high; you are asking for it!

Where the voice of reason is unreasonable
Where men and women believe that sex is the key
Where responsibility is shifted constantly to the woman
Where rape is the shame of the woman

Who is taking responsibility, beyond laws and litigation?
Who is educating our men and women?
Who is lighting the path to a healthy relationship?

What new thinking is involved?
What can Positive psychology and Mindfulness contribute?

How do we forge this path to a Higher way of living?

These are not all my experiences but a culmination of experiences I have witnessed and come to know about through my life. The answers lie in our personal willingness to observe our own attitudes to men and women who are involved in some way to sexual abuse and inappropriate behaviour. Question where you lay the blame, question why you believe of don’t believe what is being portrayed. Question the beliefs you have about men and women, their roles, their responsibilities and their relevance to society. We each need to start with ourselves and by challenging our own beliefs we begin to shift the beliefs of our family, community, society, country and world.

About R Congues

Funny enough, this blog has become the expression of my hopes, dreams, love and experiences. It came about because of the situation I discovered I was in, and I am delighted to see it grow and heal into something different: I am a parent of two children, one who has experienced severe anxiety that became disabling in all aspects of their life. I am a teacher of Maths, Science and Religious Education with a Masters in Special Needs Education; I am a qualified Reiki master, with a love of art and creative experience. I am not a professional in the fields of psychology or medicine. (If you are interested in these perspectives there are many internet sites to use.) I am simply expressing my experience in my own unique way.
