More and more I have come to recognize,
The power of reflection,
Looking at different angles,
Discovering the deeper connections.
In the stillness, alone, like water on the lake
The truest of reflections appear
Aiding clarity, vision, purpose and truth
Removing the doubts and wiping the fears
This is not about navel gazing,
Wallowing in self victimization!
It’s the learning and understanding of self,
Of others, situations and families.
Healing without reflection,
Seems an impossibility to me!
Yet where the energy is concerned…
It’s limitless and flowing free.
Reflection enhances relationships,
Gifting thoughts and insight into another,
Encapsulating what they mean to you,
The treasures that reside within.
Reflection comes natural to some,
Others need it taught explicitly,
To feel that you know what makes them tick,
Mindfully supporting their each step.
I’ve watched my child move through therapy,
Structured to teach him to fit in,
The capacity for reflection has expanded,
Beyond the neuro-typical child.
I’m not sure how to teach reflection,
It starts with questioning why?
Then creating possible answers,
A talking it through with someone wise.
Laughter is also important,
As being to serious creates pain,
Lifting the energy, understanding, accepting,
Is where the reflecting power is gained.
