Holding True!

My son’s psychologist gave us an article describing the despair a family had gone through when their son had switched off from the world and become completely reclusive, playing thousands of hours of computer games and barely living. I read this artical and can remember identifying so much with the experience. The article then went on to describe how in his own time the son picked up his life and reintegrated with the world, completing studies and progressing beyond the computer games into the real world. This was my own personal hope but seemed too remote and my son seemed too far down that path to ever return.

Several years have gone by and today, in his own way my son has re-entered life, according to his needs and desires. Today he has taken himself to the city to attend a gaming afternoon at an EB games. He is socializing with family and friends, meals, ten pin bowling, even going to theme parks with crowds and cues. He still finds it difficult at times, and needs plenty of space, good food and massages to help maintain a relaxed environment.

I believe that everyone wants to engage in some way with the world. We all want to be a part of it and to have a positive impact. Holding True, is believing against all odds that the power of Love can shine through and support another to re-engage when they are ready. Believe in them and support them. We were lucky that he always attended appointments. Even if they lasted 5 minutes, he got there and a connection was made. The true nature of us all is simply one needing to be Loved and to Love. The empowering story of another gave me the hope that things could and would change and they did.

If they can change for one person, then they can and do change for us all. When we hit our own speed humps and holes of darkness, this belief that everything changes can help support us in finding a path through the despair and allow us to envisage a future that can then be manifested. I Love the power that a belief in change has in lifting each and every person from where they once were, to a new and possibly brilliantly vibrant new space.
