Bunny Rabbit’s Dream

Bunny rabbits hop, about the bright meadow
Sipping the dew on long bended stalks
the sun glitters through, saying how is your day
Hop along now, no dawdling, it’s time to play

The owl is asleep so be joyous and leap
Over branches that are fallen, surry beneath ferns bright green
Fluff up your ears and merrily dance
Chew on the green grass that has newly sprung from the earth

Soft paws feel the warmth of the sun upon the ground
The buzzing of insects collecting nectar from the banksia
Birds calling to their mates and their kind
Looking around but leaving bunnies alone

Holes in the earth hide the homes of un Bunnies
Warm and of the earth they shield us from those that are hungry
Appearing without warning, the teeth of the predator,
Sniffing about, salivating at our scenting

With a quick witted leap, bounding through the fence
We Bunny rabbits are elusive, we know how to escape
And curling up with pleasure at the end of the day
Knowing we are what we are, we can now dream away.
