Weekend Connections

May I share my weekend with you?

A time of grace, gentleness, caring,
Offering of an ear, Reiki and Love
Laughter, Joy, Healing, Connecting…

Mother

My mother was in need of some kind of support… but stubbornness, independence and fear of aging and frailty made it difficult.

So with sisters united, enjoying a champagne and scrabble, grandsons’ quips and laughter, barriers broke.

Seeing someone you love struggle to be, an operation which created pain where there had been none, and the temporary incapacitation of a woman actively in the prime of life leaves you vulnerable and allows the connections to shine all the more brightly.

Shopping

A carefully planned trip to Kymba saw my sister light up as she sourced items that resonated with her spiritual journey. The glow within her was supported by the owner who added extra feathers, including a hawk feather, truly beautiful and cleansed the other items with thought and gentleness. I was happy simply being within the energy of all that was occurring.

Cathedral

Visiting the cathedral on Sunday was uplifting as they celebrated the transfiguration. The light that shines through all moments of the day supported us on a long journey. The ribbons that decorated the fence in front of the cathedral were in support of the victims of abuse at the hands of church personnel. It was a relief to see the religious community taking a stand against this atrocity. We tied a ribbon with the word LOVE repeated on it. A treasured moment.

Coffee

Laughter again ensued when we stopped for coffee, as we talked of nudist camps, children accidentally catching parents in the act (I think those sitting across from us where laughing too!)and other topics you don’t typically think to chat to you Mum about!

Return

The trip back to my Mother’s family home; a hotel in the suburbs, the Old England, a place I had also spent a lot of time at was an absolute delight. Whilst the place was changed the memories were intact. Sliding down the stairs, the pictures of Swan lake ballerinas, my Grandfather’s room and the bar in which he worked so long ago. Even the energy of people long past seemed to vibrate through the place.

Cousins

The joy of introducing my son to my Mother’s uncle and aunt and cousins, the laughter through the stories told and the warmth of re-connevting after so many years was truly supreme. It opened my eyes to the tendrils that connect us even when we are unaware of the shifts and movements that are unfolding. The funniest story was of one cousin posting a photo of a bottle of Grange (yes jealous!) but not revealing that minutes later began to swell up in an allergic reaction…possibly to the seafood? and not being able to drink more than one sip!! Complete irony!

In-laws

Tripping back home without my mother was surprisingly relaxing, I had done all I could to support her and I had left her with cousins who would see her onto the train. Dinner was at the in-laws who are filled with love, laughter a little bit of teasing and good natured noise. It was wonderful to relax by the pool, enjoying a wine catching up on the news, especially as they are avid travellers.

Families

Families are such a blessing and I have so much Gratitude for all the unique personalities, and connections I have with my family, both near and far.

Thank-you for staying to the end, it has been an amazing weekend.

About RC

Funny enough, this blog has become the expression of my hopes, dreams, love and experiences. It came about because of the situation I discovered I was in, and I am delighted to see it grow and heal into something different.
